Surrounding Area
Brenton on Sea is a small seaside village just 13kms from the bustling town of Knysna, in the heart of the Garden Route. The main beach stretches for 5kms to Buffalo Bay (a very safe bathing beach) - an awesome walk, hopefully seeing some dolphins and whales along the way, with restaurants either side for a drink and a snack before the return trip.
The endangered Black African Oyster Catcher nests on the rocks, in the dunes and on the sand; and are therefore vulnerable to humans, animals and raptors. The fynbos (flora indigenous to the Garden Route) covers the huge, untouched dunes on one side and there is nothing but ocean on the other. There are numerous 'hidden' beaches below the cliffs, and some are accessible with only a short hike.
Buck (deer) roam freely in the village and can often be spotted while walking in the forests nearby. The area is peaceful and serene with not much else but the sound of the ocean and the birds, and if you are lucky, hear a whale blowing from Dolphins Hill pool deck. |
